New Parent Group & BreastFriends

The New Parent Group is specially designed for new parents with an infant under twelve months of age. This program offers parents and their babies an inviting place to meet other new families in the community, receive information on parenting related topics, a book lending library, toy borrowing, and, easy access to other programs and support offered by the Eastern Shore Family Resource Association.

Special visitors and professionals from our community attend the New Parent Group to provide information on topics relevant to new families. These visits are informal and our new parents are encouraged to request visitors and suggest topics to discuss according to their needs and interests.  ESFRA staff with related training and experience facilitate this program. Although New Parent Group is offered free of charge, families must register before attending.

Breast Friends is a drop-in, peer support group that is available at the same time as each of our New Parent Groups. Breastfeeding moms are always welcome!   You may drop-in to any of our scheduled New Parent Groups each week to receive Breast Friends support!  This informal drop-in program is open to the Eastern Shore community free of charge!

ESFRA trained staff will be available to support, guide, and, provide resources. The group is offered in a comfortable, breastfeeding-friendly environment with gentle music accompaniment where your privacy will be respected.

The Breast Friends group is intended to be an extension of our Great Expectations Prenatal Program as well as our New Parent Group.  Since it is a drop-in group, registration is not required.  Those currently in other ESFRA Programs are always welcome in Breast Friends, providing they are breastfeeding, or are currently pregnant and are planning to breastfeed.  There is no age restriction for participants.

Our programs & services are offered at no charge to the community. Please note registation for NPG is required. Please see our Family Centre brochure for a full range of our Programs & Services or visit our website at .
